Alice Blanchard

Alice Blanchard grew up in Connecticut, going to college in Boston, Massachusetts, where she studied creative writing and filmmaking.

Ms. Blanchard won the prestigious Katherine Porter Prize for Fiction with her collection of short stories titled 'The Stuntman's Daughter.' Alice Blanchard has also received the PEN Syndicated Fiction Award, a New Letters Literary Award, and a Centrum Artists in Residence fellowship.

Alice Blanchard's shorts stories have appeared in literary quarterlies and her work broadcast on National Public Radio.

Ms. Blanchard currently lives with her husband in Los Angeles, where the two of them write screenplays. One little error in her novel 'The Breathtaker' makes this reviewer wonder if perhaps Alice Blanchard isn't simply a nom de plume for a male - and that's the one sentence about a female having an "Adam's Apple' which any female would certainly know isn't true. Especially since 'Alice' and her 'husband' live in the Los Angeles area. Whatever the reason or the error, Alice Blanchard is one hell of a writer, and the lack of a birth date or any other vital statistics is minor to that!
