The Hidden Assassinsby: Robert Wilson |
Margaret MaronMargaret Maron was raised on a farm near Raleigh, North Carolina, then dropped out of college to marry a naval officer while working at the Pentagon. After living in Italy, they moved to Brooklyn, New York. Finally Ms. Maron returned to North Carolina with Joe, her artist-husband, and had a son.For a number of years Margaret Maron merely thought about writing. Poetry was her special love, but when Ms. Maron finally got down to it, the short story form seemed to be her own best medium. She was published, and had some success. However, short stories no longer brought in much remuneration by the 70's, and a complete book was scary to do at first. But Margaret Maron had been considering a series based on her own experiences and background. So after doubling, then tripling the content of one of her short stories, Ms. Maron finally produced 'The Bootlegger's Daughter' in 1993. 'The Bootlegger's Daughter' won the Edgar Allan Poe Award, the Anthony Award, the Agatha Award and the Macavity Award - the very first time any single novel has won all four awards. Margaret Maron has since won more awards for her novels, belongs to the Sisters in Crime, and has been a guest of honor at Malice Domestic. Ms. Maron writes the justly famous Deborah Knott series, and also the Sigrid Harald series of books. Murder Mystery ReviewsBooks by this author we have reviewed: |
