Stephen J. Cannell

Stephen J. Cannell loves writing ? and to prove it, he?s probably written more than a good many other authors, especially in the field of television. Mr. Cannell has written over 350 TV scripts. All this in spite of the fact that he wasn?t exactly first in his high school graduating class ? and one of the courses he had the most trouble with was English. But dyslexia, undiagnosed, was the problem - which persisted all through his teen years.

Mr. Cannell was born Stephen Joseph Cannell on May 2, 1941 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in Pasadena. His wife is Marcia, and he has three children: Tawinia, Chelsea, and Cody.

Stephen Cannell has a successful career which spans 35 years. He?s written for films, TV and the publishing industry. Mr. Cannell has co-created more than 38 shows, including the highly popular The Rockford Files, plus The A Team, 21 Jump Street, The Commish, Wiseguy, Renegade, and Silk Stockings. His debut novel, The Plan, became a national bestseller. He formed his own independent production company (The Stephen J. Cannell Productions) in 1979 and 7 years later The Cannell Studios. This is the way this very aware businessman keeps control over his material.

Stephen J. Cannell is also an actor and has appeared as a guest star in TV as well as on the big screen. Mr. Cannell has won an Emmy, a Writer?s Guild Award, two Edgars, and has a star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame.
