Jacqueline Winspear
Jacqueline Winspear was born in the county of Kent, England (Weald of Kent). Ms. Winspear was educated in Cranbrook, and the University of London's Institute of Education.
Jacqueline Winspear subsequently worked for the academic publishing industry, then in marketing communications.
Emigrating to the United Sates in 1990, Jacqueline Winspear finally realized her dream of becoming a full time writer. Now Ms. Winspear is a regular contributor to academic journals, especially those covering international education. Jacqueline Winspear also has published a number of magazine articles and recorded essays for radio station KQED in San Francisco.
Ms. Winspear is a new author. Her first book, 'Maisie Dobbs' published by SOHO Press in July of 2003, was nominated for both the Edgar and Agatha Awards. It was a winner of the Alex Award (American Library Association), a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, a BookSense Top Ten pick, and one of the Best Mysteries of 2003 listed in Publisher's Weekly.
Jacqueline Winspear's first novel was also listed as a best seller in both San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Jacqueline Winspear loves to spend her non-writing time outdoors, being an enthusiastic horseback rider, hiker, mountain biker, and sailor. Ms. Winspear currently lives in California, spending most of her time either in northern or southern parts of that state, but also enjoys traveling to the UK and Europe.
