The Hidden Assassins

by: Robert Wilson

Diane Mott Davidson

Although the details concerning the where and when of her birth are not available, Diane Mott Davidson first started writing when she was encouraged by her English teacher at an Episcopal girl's school called St. Anne's in Charlottesville, Virginia. That was back in 1963.

Ms. Mott Davidson then studied political science at Wellesley, where she lived in a dorm across the hall from the now-famous Hillary Rodham Clinton. Diane eventually transferred to Stanford, completing a major in art history, receiving her B.A. in 1970. Diane Mott Davidson then went on to get her M.A. in the same subject at the John Hopkins University (Baltimore) in 1976.

Diane Mott Davidson moved to Colorado and then became busy raising her three sons and becoming involved as a volunteer rape counselor, volunteer tutor at a juvenile correctional facilty, and as a political party caucus chair. Her longest and most involved volunteering, however, was with the Episcopal church, where Ms. Davidson procured a license to preach among all her other activities there.

Diane Mott Davidson began to write once more in 1982, and sold her first novel in 1988. At first Ms. Davidson didn't know how to cook, but with help (Diane was a devotee of Julia Child and the Sunset books) she became fascinated by the subject. The Goldy series was born.

Diane Mott Davidson's mystery books are always a treat - and they combine murder and mayhem with Goldy's luscious caterer recipes - always conveniently included. Ms. Davidson's books are always set in Aspen Meadow, Colorado - a very similar town to Evergreen, Colorado, where Diane lives with her husband.

Diane Mott Davidson is a best-selling New York Times author and recipient of the Anthony Award.
