Leslie Glass
Leslie Glass grew up in Brooklyn and Martha's Vineyard, then New York City. She initially worked in the book publishing industry and at New York magazine before turning to writing full time. In addition to being an author, Ms. Glass is also a philanthropist, being founder of a foundation in her own name that grants graduate resereach fellowships for criminal justice or mental health.
In her April Woo series. Leslie Glass writes from actual experience, having gone with the NYPD on their calls to some of the most horrific scemes in the city, and everything described in her books is based on actual fact; the reality of her descriptions is a combination of her talent and the fact that she's been there!
Ms. Glass also writes another series in which she features a psychiatrist, Dr. Jason Frank, based on motivation. Leslie Glass uses this series to point out the difference in approach to a criminal suspect, balancing the law enforcement practices used by police.
In addition to her books, Leslie Glass is a contributor to a number of well-known magazines, writing both features and fiction. Ms. Glass has also written for the stage and her work there has been hailed as 'one of the best theatrical events of the year.' She's also written one acts, and her 'The Survivors' was commissioned by the W. T. Grant Foundation, dealing with teenage suicide. Another play addresses inner city youth violence and premiered at Lincoln Center.
Leslie Glass is a Trustee of the New York City Police Foundation and works on the Crime Stoppers Award Committee.
Ms. Glass has two grown children, a son and a daughter. She currently divides her living time between New York and Sarasota, Florida.
Leslie Glass is the Program Chair for the New York City Chapter of Mystery Writers of America. Her work has been translated into six languages.
