Barbara D'Amato

Barbara D'Amato is not only a mystery novelist, ahe's also a playwright and crime researcher. Ms. D'Amato's research formed the basis of a segment on TV's Unsolved Mysteries, on which she also appeared. Her plays include 'The Magic of Young Houdini', co-authored with her husband, which was performed in both Chicago and London.

Barbara D'Amato was winner of the 1998 Carl Sandburg Award for excellence in Fiction. Ms. D'Amato has also received the Anthony and Agatha Awards, as well as being a past president of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime International organizations. In addition to her Cat Marsala mysteries, Barbara D'Amato also authors the Suze Figueroa/Norm Bennis series. Barbara D'Amato, a native of Michigan, lives in Chicago, and her father was acquainted with L. Frank Baum and played with Mr. Baum's sons.
