Elizabeth George

Elizabeth George was born as Susan Elizabeth George in Warren, Ohio. Her family moved her when she was only a year an a half to a town called Mountain View, near San Francisco in part of what has now become Silicon Valley, California.
Ms. George was first educated at St. Joseph's, and from there progressed to the Foothill Community College in Los Altos Hills. Transferring from Los Altos, she finally graduated at the University of California in Riverside, while simultaneously getting credits at UC Berkley. Elizabeth George also proceeded to get a Master's Degree in Counseling and Psychology, as well as a lifetime secondary teaching credential.
Ms. George has taught in Santa Ana, El Toro (now known as Lake Forest) and a Community College where she taught creative writing. Her writing seminar, begun after publication of her first novel, was held at the University of Oklahoma and at Book Passage in Corte Madera, California. Elizabeth George is obviously one busy lady. She's even taught at Oxford, England!
Several of Ms. George' novels have been presented by BBC and shown on PBS TV series, 'Mystery.'
Elizabeth George has made A Place of Hiding a well-deserved addition to her lengthy list of successful murder mystery novels. Ms. George's very first book, A Great Deliverance, won her both the Anthony and Agatha awards for best first novel. It also won the Grand Prix de Litterature Policiere. Since then, Elizabeth George has picked up the prestigious German suspense fiction prize, the MIMI. All her books have become international bestsellers.
