Dan Brown
Born and raised in Exeter, New Hampshire, Dan Brown is the son of a Presidential Award winning professor of mathematics and a professional sacred musician, inheriting both qualities from his parents.
Dan Brown grew up in a book-filled house on the same street where John Irving once lived. After graduating from Exeter and Amhearst College, Mr. Brown followed in his father's footsteps by teaching - although he taught English instead of math.
Dan Brown's wife Blythe is an art historian and painter. She collaborates on all Mr. Brown's research, accompanying him on trips to necessary foreign sites for the purpose. Blythe's input from the art angle is evident in Dan Brown's writing - especially when he's writing about paintings in the Louvre! Mr. Brown has lived in Hollywood, California, where he wrote songs, one for the Atlanta Olympic ceremonies. He still composes music occasionally, but more as a hobby now than a vocation.
Dan Brown has been on CNN, the Today Show, and National Public Radio, plus the Voice of America. Articles have appeared about him in national publications such as Newsweek, Forbes, Oprah Magazine and the New Yorker. Mr. Brown has an avid interest in code breaking, which was the impetus for his first novel, Digital Fortress. This was quickly followed by his other sucesses, but none quite so fantastic as his present success in 'The DaVinci Code'. His novels invariably make the bestseller lists, and 'The DaVinci Code' has broken every record by being number one on the New York Times Bestseller list the very first week it appeared. The novel is presently being adapted for film by Colombia Pictures.
When not writing or composing music, Dan Brown likes to hike or play squash and tennis. Dan Brown should be eligible to win every award fiction writer organizations have to offer - he's that good. By all means, read this author.
