Lindsey Davis
Lindsey Davis was born 1949 in Birmingham, England. Ms. Davis received an English degree at Oxford, followed by a job with the English Civil Service.
When Lindsey Davis left her job and began writing full time, her first efforts were romantic serials commissioned for 'Woman's Realm' and it wasn't until she wrote 'The Course of Honor' about the Emperor Vespasian, that she switched to Roman history.
Lindsey Davis' research for her initial venture into Roman aristocracy provided the impetus for her first Marcus Didius Falco book, 'The Silver Pigs.' From there on Ms. Davis was a bright light for historical mystery fiction.
With books published both in Britain and the U.S., Lindsey Davis has received an Author's Club Award for the best first novel, a CWA Dagger In The Library Award for the author who has given the most pleasure, the Ellis Peters Historical Dagger, and a Sherlock Award to Falco for being the best comic detective of 1999. Ms. Davis has also been voted one of the top 50 authors in Waterstone's Reading Survey.
Lindsey Davis has held the Chair for the UK Crimewriter's Association and serves on the Coucil of Classical Association. Ms. Davis currently lives in Greenwich.
