Caroline Carver was brought up in the English countryside on a dairy farm. In 1957, her mother set the Australian land speed record. Her father was a jet fighter pilor in the Aussie Fleet Air Arm.
So at 18 years of age, Caroline Carver set off for London, looking for excitement that didn't seem to be happening in the country. Four years later, after working as a clerk for a chicken company, she left for a holiday in Australia - and stayed for ten years.
Working as a book rep for publishers in the Sydney area, Caroline Carver traveled widely - including a back-packing trip in Southeastern Asia for nine months, trekking in New Zealand and Nepal, and riding a camel in the Thar Desert.

Ms. Carver subsequently began writing about crime, and in 1999 won the Crime Writers Debut Dagger Award. Combining traveling and writing, with stretches in between where she competes in rallys such as the London to Capetown Rally (again with an all-female crew) and the Inca Trail Rally in South America, Ms. Carver has managed to write several novels.
