Mark Cohen
Mark Cohen was born in 1958, son of a Jewish father and a mother from ?poor white trash? in Alabama. Mr. Cohen grew up in Denver, Colorado, then attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington and the University of Colorado School of Law. Mark Cohen then served four years as an Air Force JAG, including two years there as Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. Mister Cohen was honored as the ABA?s Outstanding Young Military Service Lawyer of the Year in 1986.
Mark Cohen returned to Colorado in 1995 after practicing law in Omaha, Nebraska from 1987, when he left the Air Force, until then. Mr. Cohen presently lives in Nederland, Colorado, with his wife Tana and his adopted Chinese daughter, Natalea. They?re considering adopting another Chinese girl. Mark Cohen and Tana also have two dogs, Bear and Clyde.
Mark Cohen has written a number of legal and non-legal articles, published in widely varying venues, such as Modern Dad, Inside Kung Fu, and Camping and RV, but The Fractal Murders is his first novel. Mr. Cohen plans a series with its hero, Pepper Keane, who unsurprisingly lives in Nederland and has many identical Mark Cohen qualities. Mr. Cohen presently works part-time as a municipal judge for the city of Boulder along with maintaining a private practice and writing. He is also on the Board of Directors for an organization that teaches one how to avoid workplace violence and deal with it effectively.
