Michael Dibdin
Michael Dibdin was born on the twenty-first of March, 1947 in Woverhampton, England, of parents who certainly moved around a great deal - and from the photos available of him, I'd guess that at least one of his parents was Irish.
Michael Dibdin went to local schools in both Scotland and Ireland, growing up for the most part in Northern Ireland before attending university. Mr. Dibdin received his BA in English from Sussex University in England, and later his MA from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.
Michael Dibdin got the Crime Writer's Association Maccallan Gold Dagger Award for Fiction in 1988, was on the same organization's shortlist for that award in 1991, and received the Grand Prix de Lierature Policiere from France in 1994.
Mr. Dibdin has written a number of mystery novels, most a series involving his fictional protagonist, Aurelio Zen, set in various Italian locations. Michael Dibdin has also written at least seven other mystery novels, however.
Michael Dibdin has two grown daughters by his first marriage, and is presently married to another mystery writer, K. K. Beck. Mr. Dibdin acquired three more children by his second marriage to Kathryn.
Although very familiar with Italy (he lived there for five years), Michael Dibdin has moved around quite a lot like his parents (Mr. Dibdin also lived in Oxford for a while), and will probably move again when his present wife's remaining children graduate. At the moment, Mr. Dibdin lives with his wife in Seattle, Washington, USA.
